KENMARE Kenmare was founded in 1670 by Sir William Petty. It is one of the few "planned" towns of Ireland. Kenmare has a wide range of pubs and restaurants to visit and to sample the "local flavours". Chosen by the Irish Tourist Board, Kenmare is one of only two Heritage towns in Co. Kerry. The Heritage Centre is located in the Courthouse, beside the tourist office, where modern interpretative techniques are being used to recall Kenmare's history. |
